Dual Title Competitions
Some events award more than one title at the same competition — for example, one Open title and one Closed title. Pageant Pass lets you link additional Titles you own to a single competition, and each applicant then chooses which title or titles they qualify for when they register. You set this up on the same page you use for creating a competition.
A dual title here is not the same thing as a Title — a Title is the billed entity a competition is built under, while dual titles are the different awards contestants compete for at that one event. Each additional title you link on a dual-title competition must be one of your own Titles; you're picking from what you own, not typing a name.
Before You Start
You turn on dual titles while creating or editing a competition, so you'll be working on the competition's own page. If you haven't made your competition yet, start with Creating a Competition. You'll also need to have already created any additional Titles you want to award alongside your competition's primary Title, since dual titles are selected from Titles you own rather than typed in.
Turn On Dual Titles
The dual-title settings live in their own Dual Title section on the competition page, below the eligibility settings and above the entry fee.
- Open My Competitions from the menu.
- Click Create New Competition, or click an existing competition to edit it.
- Scroll to the Dual Title section.
- Turn on This competition awards more than one title.
- Under Additional Titles, select each extra Title you own that this competition also awards. You can link up to two additional Titles beyond the competition's primary Title, for up to three titles total.
- Click Create Competition (on a new competition) or Update Competition (when editing) at the bottom of the page to save.
Classify Your Titles
Each linked Title shows up as a row under Titles Offered with its name already filled in — pulled from the Title itself — and a classification you choose.
- Under Titles Offered, find the row for each linked Title. The name is read-only; it always matches that Title's name.
- From the dropdown next to the name, choose the title's classification: Open, Closed, Collegiate, or Festival.
- Repeat for each linked title.
- Save the page when you're done.
Add or Remove Titles
You can link up to two additional Titles alongside the competition's primary Title (three titles total). A Title already linked as the primary or as another additional title won't appear again in the picker, so you can't link the same Title twice.
- To add another title, click Add Another Title under Additional Titles, then select one of your own Titles from the dropdown that appears.
- Its row under Titles Offered appears automatically with the Title's name filled in; choose its classification.
- To remove an additional title, click the X button at the end of that Title's row.
- Save the page to keep your changes.
If you need to award a title that isn't one of your existing Titles yet, create it first from My Titles — see Titles — then come back and link it here.
How Delegates Choose Their Titles
Once dual titles are turned on, applicants see a Title Qualification section when they apply. There they pick which title or titles they qualify for — they may choose more than one. You don't need to do anything to enable this; it appears automatically for any competition that awards multiple titles. For the applicant's view, see Applying to a Competition.
See Which Titles an Applicant Qualifies For
On a dual-title competition, your applicant list shows each person's chosen titles so you can see them at a glance.
- Open the competition from My Competitions.
- On the Applications tab, look for the Qualifies For column. Each applicant's selected titles appear there as colored tags, with the color matching the title's classification.
- An applicant who hasn't selected a title yet shows a dash (—).
This column only appears for competitions that award multiple titles.
Change the Titles an Applicant Qualifies For
If an applicant chose the wrong title, or you need to set it for them, you can adjust it yourself.
- On the Applications tab, open an applicant's actions menu and click Edit Application.
- In the panel that slides in, find the Qualifies For list.
- Check the title or titles the applicant qualifies for, and uncheck any that don't apply.
- Click Save Changes.
